Collection consists of correspondence from various persons to William Hepworth Dixon, mainly in his capacity as editor of the Athenaeum (1853-69) and as an author. Also includes personal letters, letters to members of the Dixon family, letters addressed to business matters concerning the Athenaeum, and correspondence referring to Dixon. In addition are letters from Dixon and his family to various persons, unidentified correspondence, and 2 photographs of William Hepworth Dixon.
